I had myself a little scare last week! I have been weirded out that I cannot get a routine going since my Mom moved in! Yes it's an adjustment but taken me a long time to figure how to make it all work. When I don't work out regularly, everything starts to fall apart.
"Maybe if you worked out, everything else will too"
So, remembering back when I traveled a solid week across the country with my daughter; I marveled at how she would just drop to her knees, start praying & crawl into bed. She didn't invite me to join her, it was just how she rolled. As a mother, that scene is precious beyond words.
I decided to have the same attitude about working out that my daughter has with praying. I'm just going to do it and it's worked out nicely this past week. I can't believe what a difference I'm feeling. I know it but once I lose the routine, my perception goes downhill.
Just grateful that I have good workouts from Voight & Miller. I'd be a lost cause without them. Doing Strong & Streamlined actually fixed the stinkin' knee problems I'ved had for the past 3 months! Go figure. I've been babying it when what it needed was strength training!

stylistics
I need to make a note. I overate today, slept after eating, then woke up feeling like a blobby tired monster. However, since the house was vacant I went to YouTube to find songs I could sing out loud for uplift.
WOW! I never made the connection that singing songs you love out loud with the music blaring actually clears your brain fog and in my case sweat! LOL...but in the process of clicking song after song looking up lyrics on Metrolyrics so I could sing along....i found the Stylistics! They are really my favorite musicians from the good ol' days. The lyrics are beautiful and lovely.
On a side note, the song that got me going was this one.

Paying....
I just read that last post & i didn't a single one of those good ideas. 4 years of neglecting my tingly hands/forearms & now my stupid knee is screwed up....
SHM....I woke up this morning & finally gave in....made an appt. 7:30 am for later today because I CAN'T IGNORE the PAIN anymore....neglect or what is it that they say in Real Estate? "Deferred Maintenance" That's me.

The quiet voice.
I woke up with the quiet voice speaking to my mind.
ESTABLISH these 3 habits NOW.
You NEED to MOVE....walk 2 miles EVERYDAY!
You need to drink Kale smoothies daily & LOTS of Water to flush out toxins.
Take your vitamins at 9, 11, 3 & evening.
NEXT:
Incorporate your Kundalini & Circuit Training
*********************************************************************************
I've noticed that eating the Costco frozen chicken in my recipes is making me less of a poultry girl. I'm even having trouble eating IN-N-OUT burgers so if I do, i have to eat without their special sauce. My palate is changing. I can still eat red meat but we'll see for how long. I guess it's great I don't need to eat as much animal protein but I find it so odd when I'm the QUEEN of carnivorous faire! lol.

The Power of ONE word by Jon Gordon
I repeat myself because Dave Ramsey says, "A persona has to hear something 13 times for it to register.
I'm sure that's why the Scriptures are repetitive in teaching the same principles over & over again. The way I started this great new outlook in moving forward the next 6 months is through the process Jon Gordon presented in his book, "The Power of ONE Word"
It's a quick read & took me less than 30 minutes. It's always better to read the book because he explains & plants ideas in your head that will guide you more perfectly in the process of discovering your ONE word to steer your life for a year, then you discover a new word the following year.
I have a hunch that because he does this himself, that is why he's come up with some brilliant books that launches his consulting & speaking engagements all year long. He is hired by major corporations, Pro Sports Teams, Churches, Non Profits, School Districts.....all trying to better their system & grow & prosper. Isn't that what living a healthy, happy lifestyle is all about? So many of us go through the stream of life with low self esteem, low motivation, low vision, & continaully "wish" for a better existence. THIS IS THE BOOK to propel you OUT of your comfort zone! Here's the process.
UNPLUG: Designate COMPLETE SILENCE & QUIET time just for you. Unplug all electronics, phones, no humans to distract your attention to the process, etc. This is YOUR TIME. No distractions allowed.
Answer these 3 questions & keep in mind that attitudes, traditions, physical & tangible things apply:
1.) What do you need? (not want)
2.) What's in the way?
3.) What needs to go?
After you feel like you've completely & honestly answered those questions you begin the process of finding the ONE word that you will use all year long to guide your daily efforts.
PRAY.
Because human beings are so very different, each person will have a different word. Also because God (it doesn't matter what your faith) Your GOD knows you personally, all of your faults & strengths, He knows what you need & He can let you know WHAT YOUR WORD will be if you ask. It can take a day, a week, or longer but YOU WILL KNOW what that word is & from that point on THAT WORD will be like the new car you bought & suddenly see everywhere on the road!
You will notice opportunities all day long where your ONE word will steer your actions & thought processes. You will also face oppostion to steer you away from that POWER but you will PREVAIL. I am certain of it because I'm living it & loving it.
Really & truly...the POWER is from HEAVEN & with you & Providence moving forward hand in hand with the same purpose (He is able to work in & through you now), there's GREAT power, satisfaction & JOY that enters your life. GOOD LUCK!

"Establish"
Today marks the beginning a new challenge for the next 6 months to get some routines established! Life is constantly changing with unexpected scenarios. I've often pondered the idea, "Constancy amidst the changes."
I know one person who actually has not missed a day of working out for the past 7 years. I marvel at that & also this same person hasn't missed a day of scripture reading in decades! Now that is commitment & constancy amidst the changes. Her life is extremely busy & yet she does three things that I commend her for in living a committed, true & healthy lifestyle. She feeds her family homecooked meals every night too which is remarkable in itself.
Today I will commit to doing 4 things every single day to honor my commitment to treat my body, mind, Spirit, & emotional well being the opporrtunity to live the healthiest lifestyle possible.
1.) Take in 80% of my diet from vegetation, whole grains, legumes, nuts & beans
2.) Daily scripture study, follow sunday school topic for week, am/pm prayer on knees with constant communion with the Lord
3.) Weekly Temple attendance
4.) Be deliberate & intentional with verbal communication to accomplish needed weekly tasks
5.) Get help to learn how to use my software programs
6.) WORK OUT - Kundalini Yoga 3 x's week Circuit training 2x
7.) COOK & Plan meals for each day ahead of time
Today I have been 100% on target for eating properly. I noticed that making a full blender of fruit/kale smoothie gives me a drink for in between meals whenever I feel a need to eat. It's so filing I almost feel sick but know it's better than junk food. I ate a salad with a whole apple, handful of raw almonds with a great vinaigrette. For dinner I have summer squash, spinach, tomatoes that should make a great finish for the day.

Strong & Streamlined
Getting back into a work out routine always goes the same for me. 1st two weeks i can only do one Karen Voight "Strong & Streamlined" workout. By Monday, I'll be able to do 2 then 3 & from there I do walking or pilates or yoga inbetween.
Karen Voight & Gin Miller have been my foundational work outs since the 80's. What a blessing. They warm you up, work you out, warm you down & YOU FEEL AWESOME during & afterwards.
I've come to the conclusion. I've realized that "emotions" are dictating my life. Maybe one of the reasons i went through a nasty litigation (4 yrs.!), is so I can learn to get the emotion out of the picture. Because the court of law doesn't care about emotions it only cares about the law.
Perhaps the laws of health are the same?
I always feel so awesome when I work out & forever ask myself, "Why don't I do this everyday???" I literally LIGHT up as if on stage! My Son laughed at me last week when he saw me working out because I was smiling & executing the moves as if in front of an audience. It's a habit I picked up from high school drill team practice or songleading. The rule was, "The way you practice is the way you will perform."
Lazy execution (marking the movemnet half way) typicaly resulted in like performance when we were in front of the crowd or competition. Some things live on.
GOAL: By JUNE 30 (6 weeks from now) I should be 20 pounds lighter & feeling like a new person. Incidentally, today I went to the docs & he thinks all my numbing areas are from pinched nerves & not artery problems which is great! Losing weight, eating primo & sleeping should take care of my issues coupled with chiro & elbow & wrist braces. (update. I won't be 20 pounds lighter by june 30 that's for sure but working on it!)

Link to compare
So here's the link to Dr. Furhman's data on nutritional content. It's curious to note he bases data on calorie to calorie not weight (as seen on packages. Conclusion is left for reader to decide. I love seeing the data. Here's link to Dr. Joel Furhman's site

I love you.
Haha...so I had to laugh as I write this blog to myself & wrote, "I love you" to moi, it made me laugh & feel joy! Such a simple, silly thing but I "like" it.
I posted on fb the latest point made in the "Eat to Live" plan. The following are recent findings on eating nutrient rich vegetation.
Apples & Oranges have compounds in it that protect your blood vessels from damage that leads to heart disease
Broccoli, Cabbage & Sprouts have substances that SWEEP AWAY TOXINS from your cells.
Nuts & Beans protect your cells from changes to its' DNA.
Tomatos, Beets & Peppers contain protective compounds from cancerous changes.
I know he mentioned on Dr. Oz's show that POMEGRANATES are high in anti-oxidant & packed with nutrients.
Getting a nutrition education is pretty enlightening. I love life, I should love myself enough to treat my body, mind & Spirit with great care & wisdom. So to that...I say, "I LOVE YOU." Now...get back to work!

Monday, Monday....
I never give up even though I shouldn't have to start over every single week. It's like a warped, broken record or feels more like "Groundhog Day"
What's different this week is that my husband has joined me in walking! Now what a real surprise. We have lived here for 13 years now & I can probably count our walks through our neighborhood on one hand. It's been a nice, sweet change & able to report 2 days of walking in a row.
With more movement & activity comes more hunger. The other days I've followed the eating plan, I felt satisfied but yesterday & today...i've got a ravage hunger.
After our walks I make us Smoothies with a whole fuji apple, bananas, strawberries, fresh pineapple (i forze) & after serving the boys I throw in Kale for me. It's a great way to start the day. Then lunch was a brown rice bowl topped with lightly seasoned veggies which I halved to make 2 servings. Dinner I ate a 1/2 pbj (had a craving....)
I can't understand how I can drink a smoothie packed with nutrients & an hour later eat a hotdog & spicy lime cup a noodle with a 1/4 cup of rice on top. It's only 10 AM!!! I'm determined to clean at lesat 3 rooms today AND WORK OUT.
I blew out my knee the last time I worked out so have been staying away from high intensity work outs but after this crappy binging....it's TIME. More to come whether you like it or not. : ) I just love talking to myself. I love you.
I just realized that Dr. Furhman said that your brain doesn't register full & satisfired when eating junk because the brain can't recognize anything useful in the consumption of say...my hotdog & spicy cup of noodles with rice! I bet if I had eaten an apple like I planned but forgot to do in that moment of hunger I would have been satisfied & content. Lesson learned again.
